Tony Blair prepares to leave No.10

Like him or loathe him, Tony Blair has been a collossus on the British political landscape for 15 years, and 10 as Prime Minister. I found this movie on YouTube, which indicates some people have a little too much time on their hands! I think Tony Blair has been a good leader for our country, I profoundly disagree with his policy and decisions on Iraq, but I feel he left our country in a better place than the Britain he took over in 1997. Particularly his actions on establishing a minimum wage, in reducing child poverty, and in his work to eleviate third world debt, and helping set the world development goals. As Bono put it, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown have made a phenomenal effort. I wish Tony well as he prepares for the next stage of his life and work.

I feel exactly the same way. I think he has led this country well and has been a good ambassador.

We all make mistakes from time to time and I think Tony has learned from his.

For me the most poignent moment of his 'reign' was when he spoke about the fact that God will judge him over Iraq. It was a moment of real searching of the soul and I wondered if it was a time of doubt about his decision to go to war. What a massive burden to carry without the grace of Jesus Christ! I can only thank God that He alone is judge and that I wasn't in the position to have to make a decision over this.
